The gang celebrated President’s Day with a special game show, spotlighted DC’s greatest African-American Super Heroes for Black History Month, and more! Here are some of the highlights…
On Monday, February 18th, Sam Humphries hosted a special President’s Day edition of DC Daily. The DC Daily panel (John Kourounis, Whitney Moore, Brian Tong, and Clarke Wolfe) competed in Sam’s game show called “Presidential Pop Quiz," where each contestant had to name as many fictitious DC Presidents of the United States as they could.
On Tuesday, February 19th, we got a cool look at some of the DC Collectibles previewed at Toy Fair 2019, including a line of figures from Dark Knights Metal and a new wrestling-inspired line called Lucha Explosiva! Next, the DC Daily panel (Sam Humphries, Whitney Moore, John Kourounis, and Hector Navarro) covered Forever Evil in the show's Book Club. There was a great discussion about what makes a villain an interesting adversary for a hero, and why Lex Luthor is the true MVP of this storyline.
On Wednesday, February 20th, DC Daily continued their celebration of Black History Month with a special segment on the history of Black Lightning. Next, the DC Daily panel (Markeia McCarty, Samm Levine, Sam Humphries, Hector Navarro, and Amy Dallen) did a Book Club segment focusing on Doom Patrol #23 and #24. The gang debated which villain was scarier, Red Jack or the Scissormen, and pondered which member of the Doom Patrol they would go out on a date with. Samm Levine picked Crazy Jane, reasoning, “You’re never going to go on the same date with the same girl twice." The panel even shared some thoughts from our Community members. Was your comment one of the ones read aloud?
On Thursday, February 21st, the DC Daily panel (Clarke Wolfe, Sam Humphries, Hector Navarro, Markeia McCarty, and Samm Levine) talked about the first episode of Doom Patrol and all the weirdness found within. The panel enjoyed all the 1990s nostalgia with Brendan Fraser and debated which member of the team was the most troubled. Next, Sam Humphries sat down with writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing to discuss Green Arrow #50. Sam, who ships Ollie and Dinah, had some choice words for the writers on their decision to put Black Canary and Green Arrow against each other.
On Friday, February 22nd, DC Daily continued its Black History Month celebration with a special look at Cyborg’s first appearance in DC Comics Presents #26. Afterwards, the DC Daily panel (Clarke Wolfe, Sam Humphries, Whitney Moore, Markeia McCarty, and Harley Quinn Smith) discussed all the latest news from the week, including Walmart’s exclusive line of blind-bag Batman: Black and White mini-figures. The panel even got to open some bags and were surprised by the figures they got. The trailer for the new DC Super Hero Girls animated series was screened; the gang also discussed Gotham Girl’s evil turn in Batman #56 , and Markeia gushed over the gorgeous artwork in DC’s new series High Level.
