And the casting news for DC Universe's Swamp Thing just keeps on comin'! Hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement about who will be playing Swampie and his alter ego Alec Holland in the 2019 live-action series, we've got word on who will portray the character's frenemy Matt Cable -- Riverdale star Henderson Wade.
Cable (pictured above in The Saga of the Swamp Thing #29), as longtime Swamp Thing fans know, began his comics career as a government agent assigned to protect the creature, before eventually marrying leading lady Abby Arcane, turning evil, dying, and becoming reincarnated as Matthew the Raven, who often appeared in the pages of DC/Vertigo's Sandman. Whew! That's a lot of history for a supporting character, but we probably shouldn't expect most of it to happen on screen any time soon. According to Deadline, which broke the news, the show's Cable will be, like Wade's Riverdale character Sheriff Michael Minetta, a lawman..."who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect."
Additionally, Wade's Cable is the son of Jennifer Beals' character, Sheriff Lucia Cable, and is said to have harbored a childhood crush on Crystal Reed's Abby Arcane.
